Thin Air Mountain Biking Tours

Choose your style and we'll plan the rest for you!

The packages we have designed below give us an idea of what you enjoy and what kind of riding you are looking for. The more details you give us about what you enjoy, the better we can ensure that your package suits your needs completely!

This package offers the best of altitude riding, big climbs, very little traffic and downhill thrills! Most of these routes will be single track and 4x4 track, with district road riding from one point to the next. Don't expect huge distances but be prepared to spend hard time in the saddle.

The difficulty level of terrain is all dependant on your riding skills. Be prepared to portage some areas!

The xtreme package does offer the most beautiful views and nature at its untouched best.

Go the distance. High altitude training. Long distances on gravel roads and faster 4x4 and single track. No need to portage. Enjoy the freedom of wide open spaces.

There are two local races which we can incorporate into your package. The Wartrail Mountain Bike Challenge which takes place in December, and the Rhodes MTB Challenge in October.

Enjoy a good hard ride? Doing the distances, but with a lot of off-road, single track riding.

Sweat & Smile is a combination of Xtreme junkies and Distance Devils.

Just good exercise and enjoyment. Do some distances with interesting deviations and some challenges. This is catered for the typical Week-end Warrior, the person who loves mountain biking but not necessarily the fitness levels needed for the above packages.

Bring the family along. Enjoy picnics, swimming in the rivers, picking berries and squeeze in some trout fishing at the end of your day.

This uniquely beautiful area is fascinating in its history and culture. From Dinosaur fossils to the famous railway reverses, early settler cave-houses to the exceptional Bushman paintings that have drawn archaeologists from around the world. Most of the families here are descendants from the first settlers in the area, and have many interesting anecdotal stories to tell from clashes with King Moshesh’s raiding parties to weddings that spanned days due to flooding rivers. A private museum with old agricultural implements and artifacts can be seen by prior arrangement and many of the caves that contain Bushmen paintings are strewn with archaeological artifacts.

Visit cattle farms, sheep farms and berry picking in season.

Tour into local villages of Sterkspruit and Herschel and experience traditional hospitality in these former homelands.

Thin Air MTB can arrange any of the above activites, your prices will include SETA registered guides where necessary.
